semi-autonomous CYber-RAnge training and exercise sceNariO generation

Many modern cyber range platforms offer rich environments for their users, such as standard network topologies, pre-defined attack scenarios, software tools and potential detection and mitigation measures within the emulated Internet. But in contrast, the current solutions are quite complex and the development of Cyber Range Training and Exercise scenarios (CyRaTrEx scenarios) for such platforms are not easy, as they do not provide easy integration of existing cyber threat databases. The lack of automation in the development and execution of CyRaTrEx scenarios necessitates numerous time-consuming manual steps. Consequently, it is not possible to rapidly develop and deploy CyRaTrEx scenarios addressing new threats.
CYRANO tries to overcome these issues with a semi-autonomous CyRaTrEx scenario generation process benefiting from cyber threat database integration and the use of AI. Semi-autonomous means, that the generation and integration process are only to a certain degree autonomous and still requires some level of human input and supervision.
By providing state of the art CyRaTrEx scenarios, CYRANO will strengthen the Luxembourg Cyber Range Platform and with that support the building of competencies for CERT’s (Computer Emergency Response Team), Security Operations Center’s (SOC), Network Operations Center’s (NOS), IT department personnel and potential future Cyber Reserve members.
