Sébastien Faye is Head of the Distributed & Intelligent Connectivity (DISCO) Research Group at the Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST). His research lies at the intersection of communication, computation and artificial intelligence, with a focus on intelligent and distributed connected systems. His main areas of expertise include network digital twins, AI-native 5G/6G systems, distributed intelligence across the mobile-edge-cloud continuum, and connected, cooperative and automated mobility (CCAM). He obtained his PhD in Computer Science from Télécom ParisTech in 2014, with research on the control and management of urban road traffic using wireless sensor networks. Before his current position, he served as 6G Technology and Innovation Line Manager at LIST. Over the years, he has contributed to and coordinated multiple national and European projects in 5G, 6G, edge intelligence, mobility systems and network planning. He is notably the coordinator of 6G-TWIN and 6G-CARE, two projects funded by the Smart Networks and Services Joint Undertaking (SNS JU) under the Horizon Europe framework. His work combines scientific ambition with applied impact, spanning architectural and standards-aligned research, simulation and experimentation, demonstrator development, patents and technology transfer. He is also the author of three patents in wireless network profiling. He has authored around 60 journal and refereed conference publications.
