Currently in my second year of PhD, I study the impact of nanoplastics on the gut health. I work on the development of a methodology to produce true-to-life nanoplastics at the laboratory scale, considering a bio-based polymer (PLA) and a petrochemical one (PE) to mimic the degradation of plastics in the environment. Those nanoplastics will then be exposed to in-vitro cell models of the gut-liver axis, following their journey through the cell layer relying on Mass Spectrometry Imaging techniques.
