G-STEAM

Gender-Sensitive Teacher Training in STEAM Education

Inspiration

The G-STEAM Academy is a European partnership that brings together Initial Teacher Education (ITE) and Continuous Professional Development (CPD), practice schools, and non-formal education and research organisations from 9 countries to promote gender inclusivity in STEAM teaching.

It establishes a European Community of Practice for gender- and intersectionality-inclusive STEAM education and engages policymakers in co-designing strategies for institutionalising gender-sensitive teacher training.

Innovation

Using creative and arts-based pedagogies, the project develops innovative training programmes, G-STEAM Toolboxes, and flexible mentoring and mobility schemes to strengthen collaboration and enhance the European dimension of teacher education.

LIST is in charge of developing the digital G-STEAM Community of Practice (CoP) platform. Building a European digital CoP is both a challenge and an opportunity. It must bring together educators from different countries, systems, and languages while keeping them engaged and inspired. That’s why the platform is designed as a dynamic, inclusive hub with interactive tools and creative ways to encourage participation. More than a platform, it becomes a living European network that empowers educators, sparks innovation, and drives lasting change in education.

Impact

The project empowers educators with the skills, confidence, and agency to drive change in their classrooms and institutions. It transforms teacher education by fostering modern, practice-oriented approaches that respond to the evolving needs of learners. The innovative resources it develops provide accessible, evidence-based tools that enrich teaching and learning.

By building a strong European community of practice, the project connects professionals across borders, enabling collaboration, knowledge-sharing, and mutual support. Together, these achievements drive systemic change, ensuring sustainable improvements in education at local, national, and European levels.
