SaveWater

Protecting natural resources is a major challenge for Luxembourg. SaveWater is inspired by the need for a more responsible economy, where companies actively contribute to the conservation of water resources. The project addresses high water consumption in industrial, commercial, and institutional buildings, and seeks to raise awareness among employees about responsible water management. By building on frameworks such as the “KlimaPakt fir Betriber”, it encourages companies to adopt sustainable, actionable, and value-creating practices.

SaveWater introduces a structured approach to improving water efficiency in companies. Its innovative aspect lies in translating national policy strategy into practical guidance and accessible frameworks that enable businesses to implement water-saving measures effectively.

The project promotes the holistic management of water, combining technical guidance, strategic planning, and employee engagement initiatives. By focusing on actionable solutions that can be adopted across sectors, it makes sustainable water practices tangible and scalable.

SaveWater delivers measurable results in water management across Luxembourg. Its key contributions include:

• Water Audit Guideline and data collection tool, which help companies identify water streams, quantify consumption, and prioritize reduction actions.
• Practical guidance for rainwater recovery, indoor and outdoor water management, and employee awareness campaigns.
• In 2026, development of two new measures for cooling and heating systems, validated technically and economically, and integrated into the KlimaPakt fir Betriber catalogue.
• All measures will be promoted through the Betriber&Emwelt.lu platform, promoting wide adoption and broad visibility across Luxembourgish businesses.

Through these initiatives, SAVE WATER expands the catalogue of water-saving solutions, strengthens the national resource protection strategy, fosters a culture of water efficiency, and helps companies implement both technical and behavioural measures.
