About

Driven by a strong interest of the interaction between plants and their pest organisms – especially insects – my research is focusing on the impact of meteorological and climatological variables on multi-trophic systems in plant protection. The ongoing climate change is considered as one of the main challenges of our century, affecting nearly all aspects of agricultural production. Due to the high societal demands for sustainable food in a protected environment, agriculture is facing severe problems in crop performance (yield, nutrient content), nutrition cycle and especially in plant protection strategies. I consider insights in climate change interactions with pest insects and their vectored pathogens as a key for identifying the screws and bottlenecks to implement sustainable control systems in agricultural production. Capitalizing on the impact driven research environment of the Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST) and a long-standing experience in entomology, plant production and plant protection, I always strive for the transformation of fundamental research results towards sustainable solutions for society.
