About

Experimental physicist working on advanced materials and solutions in the areas of functional coatings and devices, addressing applicative issues in Smart surfaces, Nanocomposites, Energy, and Micro-Sensing fields. The research activities are mainly concentrated on the understanding and engineering the “Synthesis ↔ Structure ↔ Properties ↔ Functions” chain of functional thin film synthesis and in correlating the nanoscale and macroscopic properties. Area of expertise covers both thin films fabrication and characterization aspects. The academic background includes an Autorisation à diriger des recherches (ADR) from the University of Luxembourg and a Habilitation à diriger des recherches (HDR) from the University of Strasbourg, France. A Ph.D. in Physics was obtained from the University of Strasbourg, following a Master’s degree in Condensed Matter Physics from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln (USA) and a Master’s degree in Thin Films Physics from “Al. I. Cuza” University of Iași, Romania. Undergraduate studies in Solid State Physics were completed at “Al. I. Cuza” University of Iași, Romania. Postdoctoral research was carried out at the IFM Institute of Linköping University (Sweden) and at the Institut des Sciences Moléculaires d’Orsay (ISMO), France.
