PETUCCO Claudio

About

As Lead R&T Scientist in LIST’s Environmental Sustainability & Circularity Unit, I coordinate research that integrates ecological and economic assessment methods and models to advance sustainable natural-resource management. Holding a PhD in Forest and Natural Resource Economics (AgroParisTech [FR]) and dual MSc degrees in Sustainable Forest and Nature Management (Georg-August-Universität [DE] & SLU [SE]) and in Economics (Ca' Foscari University of Venice [IT]), I specialize in dynamic-model–based ecosystem-service valuation. I am particularly focused on combining life-cycle impact assessment, ecosystem-service valuation, and cost–benefit analysis to develop decision-support tools that guide evidence-based sustainability decisions.

Mission

I co-design and co-develop decision-support tools—such as NBenefit$ and Multisilva—that translate complex ecological and economic data into user-friendly platforms, empowering urban planners, forest managers, and investors to implement nature-based solutions with confidence and clarity. Building on these models, I work to advance life-cycle sustainability analysis by integrating ecosystem-service benefits and costs. I conduct research on ecosystem-service valuation, life-cycle sustainability analysis, and decision-support tool development, with my work published in high-impact journals including Environmental Research Letters, Science of the Total Environment, and Ecosystem Services. I lead work packages in Horizon Europe and H2020 consortia and serve as principal investigator on national research projects.
