In the evolving research landscape, where scientific equipment is becoming increasingly sophisticated and costly, ensuring operational reliability and rapid technical response is crucial. High-value instruments and complex infrastructure are critical for cutting-edge research, and any disruption can affect performance, timelines, and innovation. Ensuring these assets remain fully functional requires proactive management, specialized expertise, and close coordination with research teams.
The Advanced Technical Support group plays a pivotal role in ensuring the functionality and availability of high-value laboratory infrastructure and instruments, supporting research units in achieving their scientific objectives. Through proactive technical management, the group minimizes disruptions, optimizes equipment performance and fosters technological innovation across research projects.
As a strategic partner, the group provides specialized expertise – including preventive and corrective maintenance, equipment installation and targeted assistance for RDI projects – mitigating technical risks and reducing downtime.
Close collaboration with research teams ensures that technical support aligns with project-specific requirements, contributing to successful delivery of innovative research at LIST.
Based on in-house expertise, the group can carry out various types of minor and major maintenance and troubleshooting tasks on equipment across all LIST sites. In the event of a breakdown or failure, rapid intervention ensures timely diagnosis and, whenever possible, minimizes downtime by working independently or under manufacturer supervision.
Support is provided for the installation, configuration and commissioning of new equipment. This includes their connection to various energy sources and resources, while complying with specific technical requirements.
The team manages and supplies the various types of gases and chemicals required for research activities. Stocks of frequently used products are maintained and made available on request in laboratories, with proper connection to equipment ensured.
Limited machining, parts manufacturing and 3D printing services are offered for RDI projects. Technicians produce bespoke parts to specification, with outsourcing to trusted local partners for needs beyond in-house capabilities.
A variety of technical interventions are provided covering assembly, wiring, welding, testing and the development of technical solutions. Services also include the creation of prototypes, test benches and technological demonstrators based on designs developed by engineers from various research groups. We do not design, but we bring developed ideas to fruition.
Project management expertise enables effective coordination of installation, maintenance and manufacturing phases. By ensuring that deadlines, budgets and technical requirements are met, the group contributes to the success of R&D projects while maintaining transparent communication with all stakeholders.
