Adrien is a researcher in the Visualisation and Interaction Group, passionately working on innovative interactions and interfaces. He holds a PhD in Science (Computer Science) from the University of Mons, where he was part of the Software Engineering Lab. His thesis was supervised by Prof. Tom Mens, head of that lab, and Dr. Mohamed-Anis Gallas, from the Faculty of Architecture and Urban planning. As part of that thesis, he worked in applying AR and VR in the context of computer-aided architectural design (CAAD), through the development of several software prototypes allowing architects and other stakeholders to modify a CAAD model and visualise the resulting effects in AR/VR.
Since joining LIST in 2022, Adrien has mainly worked on the ReSurf and CON-NET projects. ReSurf aims at interconnecting two distant wall-sized displays for mixed-presence (and remote) collaboration. To enable efficient coordinated work in that context, it is necessary to replace (track and transmit) the awareness information that collocated collaborators would gather. We do so through custom-built behaviour analysis software based on Kinect data, used to generate what we refer to as awareness cues (e.g. pointing and gazing targets). Regarding CON-NET, my involvement has been more technical so far, with work mainly on (node) graph clustering computation and visualisation. This is part of the overall goal of the project which is to leverage machine learning and network analysis techniques to help users understand and detect misinformation and misbehaviour on social media.
