GOUX Xavier

About

I am driven by a strong interest in agronomy in general, with the aim to contribute to the development of a more sustainable agriculture. Passionate by microbiology and ecology, I oriented my path as researcher toward studying the microbial communities involved in the anaerobic digestion (AD) process. This research topic also attracted me, as it has as main advantage to combine easily fundamental and applied research. I have a strong expertise in molecular analyses, microbial ecology, bioreactor operation, and I start to acquire competences in strict anaerobic organism cultivation techniques. As Lead R&T Scientist at LIST, I work on different research projects in close collaboration with the biogas industry, national and international research institutes as well as with Luxembourgish public administrations. With time, I had the opportunity to expand and deepen my skills toward other environments where microbes play key roles, such as the termite gut and soil. Since August 2025, I have been granted the right to supervise doctoral candidates ("autorisation à diriger des recherches", ADR) at the University of Luxembourg.
