About

I am a plant biologist interested in the valorisation of plants as factories for the production of added-value compounds. I have worked on the elucidation of the molecular events regulating the biosynthesis of bast fibres and the use of biotechnological strategies for the modification of their physico-chemical properties, with the goal of ameliorating their industrial use. More recently, my research has included the study of the incredible richness and complexity of plant specialised metabolites and their exploitation for industrial applications via bioprocesses relying on the cultivation of dedifferentiated plant cells in bioreactors.

Mission

At LIST, I serve as principal investigator in nationally- and internationally-funded projects, as well as supervisor of students (MSc and PhD students).
