For almost 20 years, I have contributed to policy support activities related to the implementation of key European environmental regulations in Luxembourg, including the Habitats Directive, the Water Framework Directive, and more recently Regulation (EU) No 1143/2014 on Invasive Alien Species. Monitoring and reporting on the spatial and temporal dynamics of species and ecological communities across Luxembourg are central to my work. To achieve this, I apply a range of field sampling approaches, while critically assessing their limitations, such as efficiency constraints and potential impacts on organisms, their behavior, and habitats. Beyond my strong commitment to preserving Luxembourg’s natural resources, I am driven by innovation. I'm actively seeking to develop and implement improved tools and field methodologies that enhance monitoring effectiveness while minimizing ecological disturbance.
I'm a senior engineer in Ecology: (1) Conducting ecological research and long-term monitoring programmes targeting fish, benthic macroinvertebrates, pollinators, amphibians, reptiles, and mammals, directly supporting implementation of the Habitats Directive (92/43/EEC), the Water Framework Directive (2000/60/EC), and EU Regulation 1143/2014 on Invasive Alien Species. (2) Participating in the design and the optimization of statistically robust sampling strategies and the coordination of protocol implementation in the field. (3) Managing data workflows from field collection to advanced analysis. (4) Contributing to the development and application of innovative tools and methodologies to enhance wildlife survey efficiency, monitoring accuracy, and conservation decision-making. (5) Coordinating the LUXIAS (Support to the implementation of the EU Regulation n°1143/2014 on Invasive Alien Species ) and EQ-CHANGE projects (Ecological quality change of surface water bodies in Luxembourg).
