About

I am an established researcher in ecological science and technology with proven track record and hands-on experience in project (portfolio) management, team leadership, coordination, supervision and university teaching. Along my professional pathway, I have been highly motivated to push the state of the art in ecological monitoring to improve our knowledge and understanding of the state of biodiversity in a changing world. My main research lines include (1) understanding and predicting the impacts of global environmental change on ecosystems and biodiversity across spatial and temporal scales, (2) combining and analyzing structured and unstructured biodiversity and environmental datasets to improve our understanding of biodiversity dynamics under changing environmental conditions, (3) evaluating the roles played by different factors in driving changes in the state of biodiversity across scales, and (4) communicating scientific evidence and knowledge gaps on biodiversity to policymakers and stakeholders.

Mission

The Biodiversity Monitoring and Assessment group is a multi-talented team of researchers, engineers and technicians innovating the way data is collected in the field to evaluate the spatial and temporal dynamics of living organisms in terrestrial and freshwater ecosystems. As a national hub at the interface between the scientific community and decision/policy makers in Luxembourg, the group is developing and using cutting-edge technologies to strengthen knowledge and competences on biodiversity monitoring across the country. As head of the group, my main duties focus on team leadership and coordination, administrative and financial management of the team's activities, and engagement in strategic national and international initiatives and networks on ecological monitoring.
